Dr. Zourmpakis is a Senior Technical Director who has worked as discipline design lead in major infrastructure, residential, and commercial projects in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa. He is an accredited NEC3/4 Project Manager who over the last few years has led major successful bids (e.g., HS2 Phase 2b Ground Investigation Partner) and packages of work (Lower Thames Crossing). For Lower Thames Crossing, the biggest ground investigation in the UK since 2000, he was the technical lead and responsible engineer. He has extensive experience in foundations for tall buildings and has worked on landmark projects, mostly in the Middle East. He has also worked in the Nuclear Sector leading work under the Radioactive Waste Management framework (RWM 400). During his PhD he worked closely with the British Geological Survey (BGS) for his thesis “Factors affecting bonding in loess soils” and he coauthored some state-of-the-art papers on collapsible soils and the characterisation of these by means of shear wave velocity and resistivity measurements. He currently leads Langan’s London geotechnical team.
