Kelvin is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Institution of Civil Engineers. He is also a Visiting Professor at Imperial College, London. He has served as the Chair of the British Geotechnical Association and Chair of CIRIA’s Geotechnical Advisory Panel. During his career of more than 40 years he has gained extensive experience in the design and construction of a variety of earth structures. He has also investigated failures of such structures and the design of suitable remedial measures. Most of this work has involved the design of monitoring systems and the interpretation of the data to modify construction as appropriate
