Fiona is currently a design engineer at Gavin & Doherty Geosolutions. Prior to this, she was Lead Project Geologist at Applied Geology Ltd with over 7 years industry experience. She has previously worked for ground investigation contractor on large scale infrastructure projects such as HS2. She now works for a geotechnical and geoenvironmental ground investigation and consultancy company in a role which mixes both site and office-based work. She undertakes interpretive reporting, site management, earthworks supervision and mentoring of junior staff. She also takes a lead in organising Applied Geology's data management practices and systems. She plays an active role in the promotion of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion within the ground engineering sector, has spoken at various student events about her career pathway into industry. She is also a mentor for the Ground Forum Undergraduate Mentor Programme; as well as being a member of the Ground Forum committee representing InterEngineering (a network of LGBT+ engineers).
