Alastair is a Chartered Civil Engineer and Geotechnical Specialist with thirty-five years’ experience in civil and geotechnical engineering investigation, design and construction with Consultants, Local Authorities and Civil Engineering Contractors. Experience includes geotechnics applied to highways, airports, railways, earth embankment dams, bridges, retaining walls, slopes, onshore and offshore foundations and pavement engineering. He has published papers on site investigation techniques, piled foundations and retaining walls and held lecturing posts both in the UK and overseas. He represents ADEPT on British Standards Committees B526 (Geotechnics) and 526/3 (Ground Investigation and Testing) and is Convenor for CEN TC341 WG6 for the development of International Standards EN ISO 17892 for soil testing.
