David is a Geotechnical Subject Matter Expert working for BP and has over 22 years’ experience working in the geotechnical industry. David graduated from Imperial College with a MSc in Engineering Geology in 1999 and subsequently moved to Hong Kong before returning to the UK in 2004. During this time David was involved in a wide variety of projects ranging from the Natural Terrain Hazard Assessments in Hong Kong, to Design Manager for London 2012 Olympic Park Geotechnical site investigations, to Project Manager and Technical Lead responsible for the review of landslide hazards along approximately 1076 km of pipeline in Turkey.
In 2012 David joined BPs geotechnical team, where he is currently involved in onshore and offshore oil and gas projects, providing geotechnical and geohazard management and technical assurance. On joining BP David took on the role of geotechnical lead for a major tight gas project in central Oman, covering an area of some 2,800 km², providing fulltime support with respect to the geotechnical engineering and risk management through pre-FEED, FEED and Construction. David is currently BPs geotechnical lead for several new and existing pipeline projects in the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey Region and continues to support new developments in Oman.
