Dr Ursula Lawrence is a Technical Director, with more than 35 years’ experience in the infrastructure sector, with projects varying in size up to significant tunnelling and rail projects, e.g. Crossrail and HS2. More recently Ursula has become involved in the power sector with site characterisation studies for underground storage, Grid upgrades and new power station projects. Ursula has proven expertise in Mesozoic to Quaternary geologies in the UK, including authoring a number of technical publications. Ursula has been involved in the Engineering Group Geological Society since 2006, including Chair (2020-2022), and in 2023 was awarded the Engineering Group Award including for her work on two special publications. EGSP 31 Groundwater in design and Construction published in 2025 and a second EGSP on Weathering. Ursula is Assistant Editor for Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology and is also a chartership assessor.
