Silvia Pensa is a Chartered Civil Engineer with 20 years’ experience delivering major infrastructure and construction projects. Her expertise includes earthworks, foundations, slope stability, retaining structures, ground investigation and trackbed design. She has led multidisciplinary design and construction support for clients including Network Rail, National Highways, Local Authorities and Contractors. Silvia is currently Geotechnical Lead for the multi-billion-pound East West Rail scheme, promoting design efficiency, community engagement and digital geotechnical data management. She is passionate about developing people and actively mentors early-career professionals, contributes to technical training and knowledge sharing, and supports STEM and Women in Engineering initiatives. As a Delegated Engineer and Supervising Civil Engineer, Silvia champions collaboration, inclusion and consistent technical excellence across the profession.
