Dr Esdras Ngezahayo is an Assistant Professor in Geotechnical Engineering, University of Birmingham. He is the deputy head of the Birmingham Geotechnical Engineering Research group. His first degree is in civil engineering and environmental technology, and he completed his MSc & PhD degrees in geotechnical engineering at the University of Birmingham. Esdras’s research spans along, but not limited to, transportation geotechnics, problematic soils and geohazards, ground improvement and soil stabilisation, sustainability in geotechnics, and erodibility of soils. A significant fraction of his work is done at the National Buried Infrastructure Facility (NBIF), which allows him to engage and interact extensively with industry partners. Esdras has been an academic for over a decade, both overseas and in the UK. He has been a mentor and supervisor to hundreds of undergraduate and postgraduate students. He publishes in peer reviewed journals/conferences and contributes industry technical reports.
