Associate Technical Director with RSK Geosciences, designing and delivering internal geotechnical training, establishing apprenticeship pathways, mentoring colleagues towards professional registration / chartership, and providing consultancy support on complex geotechnical projects. Graduating in Civil Engineering in 1982 then earned PhD for Cement Stabilised Minestone in collaboration with the National Coal Board Minestone Executive in 1985 at Sunderland Polytechnic. Principal areas of expertise are soil mechanics, laboratory testing, foundation design, earthworks, ground improvement, retaining walls, slope stability and sustainability. His Career spans 25-years in industry and 25-years at university, covering civil and geotechnical engineering consultancy with some civil engineering, building and opencast mining experience along with contaminated land experience related to ground engineering. As an Approved Institution of Civil Engineers Mentor, Paul also serves as Head of Profession for Civil Engineering across the RSK Group.
