Dr Barnali Ghosh is an internationally recognised expert in geotechnical, earthquake, offshore, and foundation engineering, with over 20 years of experience delivering major infrastructure, energy, nuclear, offshore, and renewable energy projects worldwide. She is Technical Director for Ground Engineering (Seismic) at Mott MacDonald, leading geotechnical earthquake engineering and soil dynamics and managing a team of specialist geo-seismic engineers. A recognised technical leader in geotechnical earthquake engineering, Dr Ghosh has received numerous prestigious awards, including the John Mitchell Award (2023) for significant contributions to geotechnical engineering, the Shamsher Prakash Award for Excellence in Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering (2017), and the Mott MacDonald Milne Award for Innovation in Seismic Soil-Structure Interaction (2025). She was also named among the Top 50 Women in Engineering in the UK (2020) and recognised by the Financial Times as one of the Top 30 Future Industry Leaders from the BAME Community (2017).
