Dr. Fiona Hughes is a chartered senior geotechnical engineer at Arup and was the winner of the Rising Star Award at the 2022 Ground Engineering Awards. She has over 5 years industry experience and has worked on a range of buildings and infrastructure projects, in both design and construction support service roles. Fiona is passionate about knowledge sharing in the industry and is currently a member of the Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC) Early-Career Academics and Professionals Panel and the Midland Geotechnical Society organising committee. She enjoys mentoring students who aspire to have a career in engineering through the Social Mobility Foundation.
