David is a Geotechnical Subject Matter Expert at BP, with over 27 years of extensive experience in the geotechnical industry. He holds an MSc in Engineering Geology from Imperial College London and began his career in Hong Kong before returning to the UK in 2004 to join Atkins. David has contributed to a wide range of projects throughout his career, showcasing his expertise in complex geotechnical challenges. Highlights include: • Leading underground storage cavern investigations in China. • Serving as Design Manager for the London 2012 Olympic Park geotechnical site investigations. • Acting as a site engineer for pipeline geohazard mitigation measures in Georgia. In 2012, David joined BP’s geotechnical team, where he currently focuses on onshore energy projects. His responsibilities include geotechnical and geohazard management, as well as providing technical assurance. Over the years, he has worked on both conventional oil and gas developments and, more recently, renewable energy projects such as onshore wind and hydrogen initiatives. David’s career has taken him to numerous countries, including Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Albania, Senegal, Mauritania, Indonesia, UAE, Oman, Pakistan, Hong Kong, China, and the UK, reflecting his commitment to delivering geotechnical excellence on a global scale.
