Fiona is a senior geotechnical engineer at Arup and was the winner of the Rising Star Award at the 2022 Ground Engineering Awards. Following completion of her PhD investigating soil-structure interaction during earthquakes at the University of Cambridge, Fiona joined Arup as a geotechnical engineer. Since joining Arup, she has worked on numerical analysis, geotechnical design, and construction support services for buildings and infrastructure projects in the UK, India, and USA. Fiona won the Midlands Geotechnical Society Early Career Award in 2019 and was nominated by the British Geotechnical Association to be one of two British delegates at the 7th International Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference. Fiona is passionate about supporting young people through their studies and promoting careers in engineering. She mentors students who aspire to have a career in engineering through the Social Mobility Foundation and regularly volunteers at school events.
