David is a Geotechnical Subject Matter Expert working for BP and has over 24 years’ experience working in the geotechnical industry. David graduated from Imperial College with a MSc in Engineering Geology in 1999 and subsequently moved to Hong Kong before returning to the UK in 2004. During this time David was involved in a wide variety of projects ranging from the Natural Terrain Hazard Assessments in Hong Kong, to Design Manager for London 2012 Olympic Park Geotechnical site investigations, to Project Manager and Technical Lead responsible for the review of landslide hazards along approximately 1076 km of pipeline in Turkey. In 2012 David joined BPs geotechnical team, where he is currently involved in onshore energy projects, providing geotechnical and geohazard management and technical assurance. David is currently bps Lead Geotechnical Engineer for the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project. The project comprises the development of a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine gas fired generating station and gas, electricity and cooling water connections, with post-combustion carbon capture and compression plant, together with a gathering station for carbon dioxide (CO2) from the generating station and other industrial sources, low-pressure CO2 pipeline connections to potential industrial sources, and a high pressure CO2 pipeline for the onward transport of CO2 to an offshore geological storage site in the North Sea.
