Dr Apollonia (Liana) Gasparre is a Senior Partner of the Geotechnical Consulting Group (GCG), a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a chartered member of the Italian Institution of Civil Engineers. She has an expertise on soil characterisation and laboratory testing, which she has applied on numerous projects, onshore and offshore. She acts as a specialist advisor on a wide range of geotechnical problems, including basements, retaining walls, foundations and their re-use in urbanised areas, ground movement and slope stability assessments. She has been involved in high profile and award-winning projects such as the redevelopment of Cannon Street Station, in London and Intesa San Paolo Headquarter, in Turin, Italy. She is a member of the British Geotechnical Association, ISSMGE TC101, the CIRIA Geotechnical Engineering Advisory panel and the editorial panel of the ASCE JGGE. She was awarded the ICE Geotechnical Research Medal 2007 and the BGA Medal 2014.
