Ana is a Chartered Civil Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, and is currently leading and developing the Bachy Soletanche Design Team. With a master’s degree and a PhD in Civil Engineering, Ana has 30 years’ experience and has taken on a variety of roles, including design, research, teaching and management of multidisciplinary teams. Ana has a wide range of both geotechnical and structural design experience, including: anchored/propped piled retaining walls and diaphragm walls for deep basements, deep shafts, highly loaded bridges and buildings foundations, piled raft foundations, mini piling and underpinning, embankments on soft soils, soil improvement, slope stability, reinforced earth walls and earthworks. Her career has involved projects across Europe, Africa and South America. In the UK, as a designer or managing design teams, Ana has contributed to several prestigious projects since joining Bachy Soletanche in 2014. Ana has authored and presented a considerable number of publications in national and international conferences, has been involved in activities promoting diversity and inclusion in civil engineering, and she is passionate about inspiring young people into engineering.
